5G-EPICENTRE Testbeds
in Aveiro

The Portugal experimental Facility-site is hosted by Altice Labs in Aveiro and has been built mainly in the framework of the H2020 ICT-17 5G-VINNI project (https://www.5g-vinni.eu). The figure below represents the main technological building blocks.

The features supported are:

  • Fully functional and validated indoor 5G SA infrastructure
  • 5G NR – 3.7/3.8 GHz by ASOCS
  • O-RAN compliant CU/DU/RU RAN functional splitting
  • 5G SA Core based on Fraunhofer Fokus’ Open5GCore
  • Automated deployment and lifecycle management of 5G core components by SONATA
  • Integration of several 5G SA CPE devices validated (e.g. Huawei 5G CPE Pro H112-372)
  • Limited support of 5G network slicing (in progress in O5GC)
  • Integration of Open5GCore with Intel Openness for edge computing (AF-controlled traffic steering)
